December 17, 2015 [Port of Rotterdam] - The official opening was by Ruud de Vries, alderman for Economic Affairs of the Vlaardingen municipality and Eelco Hoekstra, CEO of Vopak.

With this new rail transfer facility, the loading and unloading capacity at the terminals have been expanded.

Over the past couple of years rail transportation has increased which boosted the demand for loading and unloading rail tank cars. In order to handle more trains per day and to offer more flexibility to its clients, the modernisation and expansion of the rail facility became a necessity. With the new rail transfer facility, which is connected to three tracks, 16 to 20 rail tank cars can be loaded or discharged in 8 hours, including shunting.
