MEED reported that 5 international engineering firms have submitted final bids for a contract to expand Fujairah based Vopak Horizons oil terminal in the northern emirate.

Italy’s Belleli Energy, Fujairah based Audex, the US Chicago Bridge & Iron and Punj Lloyd and TATA Projects both of India, bid for the deal.

According to executives at bidding firms, Vopak Horizons will announce a winner for the engineering, procurement and construction deal in November. Contractors estimate the contract at USD 110 million. The winning bidder will add 600,000 cubic meters of storage facilities increasing the terminal’s current capacity of 1.5 million cubic meters. It will also build four berths, bringing the total to 10.

Vopak originally planned to add 1.2 million cubic meters and between four and 6 berths. However, the company decided to split the development into 2 phases following in house front end engineering and design studies.
