July 27, 2026 [Tank Storage Magazine]- The US Department of Energy (DOE) has allocated up to $65.5 million (€57.5 million) in federal funding to support the cost-shared research, development and deployment of domestic oil and natural gas projects.

The funding will be used to produce domestic oil and gas, improve the efficiency and reliability of critical energy infrastructure and convert underutilised resources, supporting President Trump’s Executive Order Unleashing American Energy. As part of  the funding, the DOE has also released a Notice of Funding Opportunity to seek proposals under these titles: Maximise the Value of Stranded and Underutilised Resources; Enhance Supply Chain Durability and Infrastructure Reliability; and Optimise Operations Through Digitalisation and Smart Test Sites.

Kyle Haustveit, DOE Under Secretary of Energy, says: ‘The Energy Department is making strategic investments to strengthen America’s oil and natural gas industry and reinforce the critical infrastructure that powers our economy. This funding opportunity will help American producers eliminate waste, improve efficiency and deliver the affordable, reliable and secure energy that powers our economy and strengthens our national security.’
