December 26, 2023 [SQ]- In a high-level meeting, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, along with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mohamed Shaker, and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Engineer Tarek El-Molla, reviewed Egypt’s strategy for green hydrogen production.
The national plan aims to position Egypt as a global leader in the low-carbon hydrogen economy, fostering job creation, boosting national income, and aligning with environmental preservation goals.
During the meeting, discussions centered on hydrogen production scenarios, the upcoming action plan at both executive and legislative levels, and measures to enhance national capabilities. The strategy aims to significantly reduce emissions, contribute to environmental protection, and advance Egypt’s sustainable development agenda.
Key elements of the meeting included an overview of upcoming projects, the state’s role in reducing hydrogen production costs, and targeted scenarios for minimizing Egypt’s reliance on imported petroleum products. President El-Sisi provided directives to kickstart the agreed-upon projects, emphasizing the importance of transitioning to sustainable energy as a fundamental aspect of Egypt’s Vision 2030.
