January 9, 2015 [HAROPA] - The Supervisory Board of the Grand Port Maritime du Havre (GPMH) has just approved the launching of a call for expression of interest for a liquid bulk storage facility. The objective is fostering the development of the industrialists of the Seine corridor and supporting the supply of logistics services to the chemical sector.
The call for expression of interest concerns a site located along the ‘Grand Canal du Havre’. Its surface – in final stage – might be 30 hectares.
The uncertain economic situation in the French and European petrochemical industry as well as the restructuring of the chemical sector worldwide have obliged the Norwegian stockist and shipowner Odfjell to suspend its development project in Le Havre within the targeted outline. But Odfjell «considers that the port of Le Havre remains an interesting logistics port in the long term» and confirms that they will remain particularly attentive to the different developments initiated by the Norman port.
With these elements in view, the Grand Port Maritime du Havre is launching a new call for expression of interest, the first phase of which will be on line with the requirements already expressed by the players of the chemical sector. The GPMH thus reminds that it wants to carry on developing this sector along the Seine corridor and it is determined to help the industrialists with their projects, as this forms part of their clearly identified ambitions in the Strategic Plan for 2014-2019.
