PetroChina Expands Southwestern Oil Storage to Ensure Supplies

January 12, 2010 [Bloomberg] - PetroChina Co., the country’s largest oil company, has started expanding its largest fuel- storage terminal on the upper Yangtze River to ensure supplies to users in southwest China.

The storage capacity at Funiuxi in Chongqing municipality will increase to 300,000 cubic meters from the current 90,000 cubic meters, parent China National Petroleum Corp. said in its online newsletter today. The expansion will be completed in August, CNPC said.
Chongqing, east of Sichuan province, is also the site of China’s 395,000 metric-ton emergency oil-storage base. The government has filled 150,000 tons of oil products at the base, the National Development and Reform Commission said on Dec. 21.
