Oman Starts $143 Million Salalah Cargo Terminal Expansion

May 30, 2012 [Bloomberg] - Oman’s Transport and Communications Ministry started work on a 55 million riyals ($143 million) project to expand the general cargo terminal and liquid jetty at Salalah Port, according to a filing on the Muscat Securities Market.


The 19-month contract was awarded to Hani Archirodon Construction, according to the filing. The terminal’s cargo handling capacity will be raised to 20 million tonnes per annum of dry bulk commodities, from the current 6.5 million, and to more than 6 million tonnes of liquid products, the filing said.
