October 13, 2016 [Reuters] - Lithuania plans to start liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering next year, and will soon call a tender for a test cargo, Klaipedos Nafta, the operator of the terminal, said on Wednesday.
The onshore bunkering station at Klaipeda port would be able to reload 250,000 cubic metres of LNG per year, both to ships and road tankers, the company added.
The first two storage tanks – each with 1,000 cubic metres capacity – of five are expected to be commissioned in August 2017.
Klaipedos Nafta has set up a joint venture with Hamburg-based Bomin Linde LNG to build and operate a bunker vessel to supply marine customers and small-scale LNG terminals in the Baltic Sea.
