Howard Energy Partners Acquires Ethylene Pipeline from EPIC Midstream
01.13.2025 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

January 13, 2025 [Oil & Gas Journal]-Howard Energy Partners (HEP), San Antonio, Tex., closed on a purchase of EPIC Midstream Holdings LP’s ethylene pipeline through the acquisition of EPIC Olefins LP and EPIC Olefins GP LLC.

EPIC Olefins is a 120 mile long, 12-in. OD bi-directional ethylene pipeline connecting Gulf Coast Growth Ventures’ (GCGV) ethane cracker in Gregory, Tex., to ethylene storage in Markham, Tex. The ethylene pipeline has an initial design capacity of 7.8 million lb/d with the ability to increase capacity to meet growing ethylene demand in south Texas, EPIC Midstream said in a release Jan. 8.

HEP, in a separate release Jan. 8, said the acquisition not only increases its footprint in the Gulf Coast region, but offers synergies with HEP’s existing Javelina Plant, a treating and fractionation plant that extracts olefins, hydrogen, and NGLs from the gas streams produced by local refineries.

HEP now owns and operates more than 1,500 miles of pipeline, nearly 1 bcfd of cryogenic processing capacity, and nearly 2.5 million bbl of tank storage capacity in the US and Mexico.
