August 22, 2014 [PortNews IAA] - Russia's Gazprom Neft said on Thursday it had started seaborne shipments of oil to Europe from its Novoportovskoye field in the Arctic.

Sovcomflot’s product carriers SCF Yenisey and SCF Pechora start transportation of first oil from the Novy Port field in the Gulf of Ob (Yamal-Nenets autonomous region).

SCF Yenisey and SCF Pechora (some 47,000 DWT each) are the largest vessels transporting oil from this region of the Far North. The tankers are flying the flag of the Russian Federation and have the highest ice class – 1А.

Sovcomflot Group is Russia’s largest shipping company and one of the world’s leading shipping companies specializing in the maritime hydrocarbons transportation and supporting continental shelf exploration and oil & gas production. Sovcomflot supports large-scale offshore energy projects in Russia and the rest of the world, including: Sakhalin-I, Sakhalin-II, Varandey, Prirazlomnoye, Tangguh, Escobar, and Peregrino.

The Novy Port field is one of the largest oil and gas condensate deposits being developed in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area (YNAO). C1 and C2 reserves at the Novy Port deposit hold over 250 million tonnes of oil and condensate, as well as over 320 billion cubic metres of gas (including Paleozoic deposits). The development of infrastructure necessary for full-scale industrial development of the Novy Port is under construction today. A terminal with daily capacity of up to 40,000 tonnes of crude will be built at Cape Kamenny by the end of 2015. The deposit and the terminal will be linked by a 100-kilometer long pipeline.
