During the work at Ceyhan terminus, the last stop of BTC Crude Oil Pipeline with 1770 kilometers length, 1076 kilometers of which in Turkey, and which eases Azerbaijani oil to meet with the world’s markets, intense efforts are exerted in order to prevent a possible breakdown or technical failure.
The officials said that the storage of the oil, which reached to the terminus was continuing, adding that there was no difficulty to date. Rich hydrocarbon reserves under the cold waters of the Caspian Sea will be loaded on the ship called “The British Hawtharne,” which waits offshore and which would carry the oil from Ceyhan to world markets.
The project is expected to considerably contribute to the development of world energy presentation security, with the capacity of daily one mln barrels and annually 50 mln tone capacities. The total cost of the project, which is expected to create $300 mln annual income to Turkey and daily capacity of which is 1 mln barrels, surpassed $3 bln, $1.4 bln of which belongs to Turkey. Though crude oil reached Georgia over Turkey and first loading would be made in the upcoming days, it is stated that official opening ceremony would be held on July 13, 2006.
