Colonial Expects Some Gasoline Shipment Delays on Pump Failure
01.04.2013 - NEWS

January 4, 2013 [OPIS] - Colonial Pipeline said on Thursday that a booster pump in Greensboro, N.C., has been out of operation since Jan. 1, with repair expected to take at least until Saturday or longer.

Traders said that the pump failure on the 900,000-b/d capacity Line 3 has resulted in gasoline shipment delays to the Northeast. That pump is needed to get gasoline back into Line 3 for the Greensboro to Northeast trip.

In the meantime, Colonial is using a booster pump from Line 4 to upload gasoline onto Line 3. This means Colonial will alternate Line 3 and Line 4 deliveries for the next few days. The estimate of list time is close. It may be less than two days, if the repairs go quickly, or it may go to three days.
