Chevron U-turn on Tanks
04.26.2012 - NEWS

April 26, 2012 [The Timaru Herald] - Chevron is going to re-open its tanks at Timaru - a move business and community leaders are welcoming.

Diesel storage in Timaru was halved at the end of 2010 after Chevron New Zealand closed its tanks at the port. However, Chevron announced today that it would invest $4million in refurbishing and upgrading its storage tanks at the port.

The tanks will add an additional 20 million litres of fuel storage in the South Canterbury region. The facility is expected to open on September 1.

In the past six months, several service stations in the region have run out of diesel or have had to introduce limits for customers.

The first shipment into the terminal is expected around two weeks before the September opening.  The facility stores regular petrol, premium petrol and diesel products.
