Argos Rotterdam Terminal to Grow With a Third
04.22.2011 - NEWS

April 21, 2011 [Port of Rotterdam/TankTerminals.com] – The Rotterdam based oil company Argos Oil is planning to expand its Rotterdam-Pernis terminal with 200,000 m³ to a total of 850,000 m³.

Assuming that the permit application process will be completed according to plan, the new capacity should be operational in the course of 2013. A substantial part of the new capacity is on option to clients, notably oil traders. Argos still avails of sufficient land to expand the terminal to a total of about 1.5 million m³. Argos foresees a growth of imports of petroleum products like gas oil, naphtha, and gasoline, predominantly from the Middle East.

Capacity growth

This project fits the expansion-wave of the Rotterdam tank storage section  during the last years. Vopak, VTTI, Service Terminal Rotterdam, Odfjell, Caldic, Rubis Terminal, Botlek Tank Terminal, MOT, and Koole have added together a few million m³ capacity over the last years or are still working on it. These expansions concern all segments of the market; crude, oil products, chemicals, bio-fuels, and edible oils and fats.

The procedure for the lease of a plot of land for the brand new Tankterminal Europoort West (TEW) is well under way. In total Rotterdam will avail of almost 30 million m³ tank storage capacity, more than any other port in the world.
