"27 Companies queuing for fuel storage projects in Indonesia"

April 13, 2010 [TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta] - After inaugurating the Vopak Terminal in Tanjung Priok harbor yesterday morning, the government plans to construct more fuel storage terminals in various locations.

“There are 27 companies queuing, they have submitted their applications,” said the Minister of State-Owned enterprises Mustafa Abubakar in his office yesterday.

The storage capacity of the Vopak Terminal owned by PT Aneka Kimia Raya is 250,000 kiloliters.

“Increasing our terminal storage capacity to 750,000 kiloliters,” said Mustafa.

Before Vopak Terminal, there was a terminal belonging to PT Oiltanking Merak in Banten with a capacity of 200,000 kiloliters and a terminal owned by PT Pertamina in Plumpang with a capacity of 300,000 kiloliters.

The plan is that by 2011, the Vopak Terminal capacity will be added to by 200,000 kiloliters, in order for the total national fuel storage to reach 950,000 kiloliters.

“So our dependency on other countries, such as Singapore, can be reduced.”
