CWP Global to Develop 600 MW Green Hydrogen Project in Angola
10.08.2024 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

October 08, 2024 [Renewable Watch Magazine]- CWP Global has partnered with Angolan and German companies to develop a 600 MW green hydrogen project in Angola. The project is being led by Angola’s state-owned Sonangol, in collaboration with German engineering firms Conjuncta and Gauff. The initiative aims to produce green ammonia, with the first phase targeting an annual output of 400,000 tonnes, and additional capacity planned for future stages.

The project will leverage existing infrastructure, including power generation, ports, and grid systems, as well as available land for downstream operations. The primary focus appears to be the export of green ammonia, positioning Angola as a key player in the global green energy market.

Earlier this year, CWP signed a MOU with the Corner Brook Port Corporation to assess the feasibility of establishing a green hydrogen hub in Canada. The project seeks to utilise up to 5 GW of wind power to generate green hydrogen and green iron, aligning with the economic and environmental objectives of Newfoundland and Labrador.
