Throughput of Singapore Port in H1 Edges up to 291.43 M Tonnes

July 21, 2015 [PortNews IAA] - Cargo traffic at the Port of Singapore from January through June increased by 0.5% compared with the same period a year earlier to 291.43 million tonnes, the Port Authority reported provisional figures.


Handling of oil products grew by 1.8% to 96.5 million tonnes, while container throughput fell 3% to 16 million TEUs.

Singapore is the city-state located on an island in the South-East Asia. Port of Singapore is the world’s busiest port in terms of total shipping tonnage. Singapore also transships a fifth of the world’s shipping containers as the world’s busiest container port, half of the world’s annual supply of crude oil, and is the world’s busiest transshipment port. In 2014, cargo traffic at the Port of Singapore reached 581,027 million tonnes.
