June 1, 2015 [Reuters] - Indonesia's Pertamina signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with state port firm Pelindo II and shipping firm ASDP to build a fuel import terminal in Kalibaru, State Owned Enterprise Minister Rini Soemarno said on Thursday.
Former OPEC-member Indonesia is one of the world’s top fuel importers.
The project, part of Jakarta’s port expansion program, is also part of Indonesia’s program to increase national fuel reserves to supply the country’s fuel demands for 30 days, Soemarno told reporters.
“We need to build storage facilities,” she said. “Pelindo has land to build storage (facilities). The storage can be for fuel for their ships.”
