Jetti Petroleum Jacks up Bulk Terminal Investment to P1.5B

September 8, 2014 [Manila Bulletin] - Independent oil player Jetti Petroleum, Inc. (Jetti) has upped its capital expenditure for its Bataan Bulk Terminal to P1.5 billion saying the original P1 billion budget is not enough to cover the development cost of the second phase of the project.

In a statement, Jetti disclosed Friday that it has increased the capital expenditure for its Bataan terminal project to be able to implement the second phase development of the facility.

The Phase 2 of the fuel firm’s Mariveles, Bataan depot involves development of additional 1.5 hectares. This is on top of the 2-hectare development and will bring a total of 3.5 hectares to the project’s current landholding in the area.

“The idea of a Phase 2 was conceived in order to maximize the usable land area of the property,” said Jetti Corporate Affairs Manager Leo Bellas.

“By expanding our holdings, we now have the capability of adding more storage tanks to meet the growing market need for quality fuels in Luzon,” he added.

Bellas specified that the Phase 2 of the project can accommodate additional storage tanks of varying sizes, totaling about 60 million liters in combined fuel capacity.

“Although the primary direction is to construct the Phase 2 storage tanks once Phase 1 storage capacity is deemed insufficient, the company will likewise be looking at expanding by way of other potential related businesses,” Bellas further said.

He explained that the essential and critical stages of Phase 2 of the project is currently being done and integrated in the Phase 1 construction of the terminal.

Expected to be operational in the first quarter of next year, the first phase of the project is expected to have a total storage capacity of almost 70 million liters.

With the Bataan Bulk Terminal, the company will have the logistics capability to cater to the rising demand for diesel, motor gasoline products, and bunker fuel oil in Luzon, including the possible storage and supply of bioethanol and aviation fuel needs in the region.

The Bataan depot will be Jetti’s second import facility next to the Tagoloan bulk terminal and will serve the requirements for Luzon.
