Crude Exports via Kozmino Terminal Grew 10.3% in 1H2014 to 11.7m Tonnes

July 16, 2014 [PortNews IAA] - Export of Russia’s crude oil through the terminal of dedicated marine oil port Kozmino, the ESPO (Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean) oil pipeline terminus in January-June 2014 amounted to 117 oil shipments (100,000 tonnes each), a total of 11.7 million tonnes, or a 10.3% gain compared to H1 2013, the stevedoring company said. 


In the reporting period the main importers of ESPO brand were Japan – 4.4 million tonnes (37.6%) and China – 2.4 million tonnes (20.5%)

  • South Korea – 1.7 million tonnes (14.5%),
  • Philippines – 0.9 million tonnes (7.7%),
  • Thailand – 0.8 million tonnes (6.8%),
  • Malaysia – 0.75 million tonnes (6,4%),
  • New Zealand – 0.3 million tonnes (2.6%),
  • Singapore – 0.27 million tonnes (2.3%),
  • Taiwan – 0.1 million tonnes (0.9%),
  • Indonesia – 0.08 million tonnes (0.7%).

Since the beginning of 2014 11.1 million tonnes were supplied through the ESPO-2 pipeline​​ and 0.6 million tonnes (5.2%) delivered by the Far Eastern Railway. So, 94.8% of all volume were delivered to the oil port via the trunk pipeline. Exporters and the terminal operator plan to maintain the pace. 

In the second half of the year, Oil Port Kozmino plans to export 11.6 million tonnes of ESPO and the annual rate is expected to exceedd 23 million tonnes.

Primorsky Territory, Russia based dedicated marine oil port (Spetsmornefteport Kozmino LLC), a subsidiary of Transneft JSC, was launched in late 2009. Kozmino Oil Terminal is the terminus of the ESPO Oil Pipeline (Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean). The port was built for transshipment to oil tankers of crude oil supplied to the terminal through the main pipeline ESPO-2 and via the Far Eastern Railway. Upon completion of the ESPO terminal Phase 3 expansion project Kozmino capacity has reached 30 million tonnes a year.
