September 06, 2013 [Curaçao Chronicle] - Eighteen thousand cubes, about ten hours before it is full and it costs about 7 million guilders.
These are just a few stats for the three new Curoil storage tanks. These new tanks are impressive, according to the Curoil Director Yamil Lasten.
The new tanks are used for storage of Low Vanadium Fuel and Low Sulfur Diesel. The former Government of Curacao headed by Gerrit Schotte gave the approval in March 2012 to start the construction of these three new tanks.
In total, Curoil has now eight storage tanks. The already existing tanks may be used for the storage of Marine Fuel Oil, Low Vanadium and Gasoil.
Cost
According to the Curoil Director, the new tanks provide the way to save costs. “It is no longer necessary to lease tanks for the storage of this type of diesel and because a larger volume is available this product can be purchased at a lower price,” according to the Director.
