March 5, 2013 [SeeNews] - Lithuania's state-owned terminal operator Klaipedos Nafta AB said Friday it had selected Latvian construction company BMGS AS to build a jetty at the liquefied natural gas terminal (LNG) it is developing.

BMGS has won the tender with its bid of EUR 27.2 million (USD 35.5m) excluding VAT. The company was competing with another two firms.

The contract between Klaipedos Nafta and BMGS is pending approval from the terminal operator’s board of directors and shareholders.

As part of a previous deal, Klaipeda State Seaport Authority will reimburse to Klaipedos Nafta some EUR 14.2 million excluding VAT of the total sum the company will invest in the jetty construction. The remaining EUR 13 million will be covered by the terminal operator.

The LNG terminal that Klaipedos Nafta is developing is due for completion by 2014. The facility will use a LNG floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) with a natural gas capacity of up to two billion cubic metres (70.6bn cu ft) per year.
