July 23, 2012 [Fars News Agency] - The oil storage capacity in Kharg Island will rise by four million barrels in coming months, Managing-Director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Ahmad Qalebani said.

Speaking during a visit to the construction operations of four oil storage facilities, each with one million barrels of oil storage capacity, Qalebani asked Iran’s oil Terminals Company and project’s contractor to speed up the construction work.

Construction of the oil storage tanks will increase oil storage capacity of the country, Qalebani said.

Qalebani insisted on tackling operators’ problems, adding that the NIOC has strongly supported domestic manufacturers for construction of the oil storage tanks amid declaring NIOC’s readiness for any further cooperation.

Construction of the oil storage tanks have made progress by 53 percent while the first storage facility will be tested hydrostatically this fall followed by testing the three others month by month.

In his visit to the 52 -inch oil transfer pipeline in Kharg Island, the official noted that repairing and replacement of the pipeline will be accelerated in order to increase the volume of oil transfer.
