Musket Expands N. Dakota Crude-By-Rail Facility
06.15.2012 - NEWS

June 15, 2012 [OPIS] - Musket Corporation said on Tuesday that it has completed a major expansion project at its Dore, N.D., crude-by-rail facility. The terminal now has outbound capacity of up to 60,000 b/d of crude oil from North Dakota to markets across the country, up from 10,000 b/d before the expansion.

The terminal will receive oil from trucks and pipeline through a connection to Banner Pipeline.Musket first opened its Dore crude-by-rail facility in 2008. The Dore facility originally employed 20 people. With the expansion, employment opportunities will increase to 50 jobs.

In 2010, OPIS reported that Musket owned and leased more than 2,000 rail cars, slashed by about half from a few years prior due to poor arbitrage economics. However, that railcar fleet size is expected to have grown in the past two years.

Besides crude rail delivery business, Musket also owns a chain of Love brand truckstops across the country. Meanwhile, the expansions and new crude transloading terminals are popping up at a rapid pace this year.

Marquis Energy and Seacor have recently completed their crude unit train terminal projects.
