October 12, 2011 [OPIS] - Kinder Morgan has confirmed with OPIS that a biodiesel leak on Tuesday at the company's Carteret refined products terminal in New Jersey did not have any impact on operations.
A filing with the National Response Center (NRC) said that about 50 gallons of biodiesel were released from a line Tuesday morning during annual pressure testing of the line. The leak occurred between tanks 35-3 and 35-1 by Dock 2 in the Arthur Kill waterway.
In response to the incident, line pressure was released, and the line was clamped to stop the leak. Sweeps and absorbent pads were applied as part of the cleanup effort. Kinder Morgan spokesman Joe Hollier told OPIS today that the spill has been cleaned up and that the incident had no impact on terminal operations.
