Vopak and Shell Closer to Building LNG Terminal in Fos-Lavera, France
05.18.2011 - NEWS

May 18, 2011 [TankTerminals.com] - Press reports today suggest that Royal Dutch Shell plc and Royal Vopak NV are to expected press ahead with the construction of a new LNG terminal near Marseille.

The same press reports state that the new terminal in Fos-Lavera would require an investment of € 800 million and would have a capacity of 8 billion m³ per annum. This equals about 15% of the French consumption.

As press reports were not unanimous with respect to the stake of both parties in this project, TankTerminals.com verified this with Vopak and learned that Vopak will have a 90%-stake in the project and Shell the remaining 10%.
The Vopak-spokeman also stated that the project is still in a feasibility-stage and that no final decisions have been made.
