Additional tank capacity Caldic in Rotterdam into operation
01.18.2010 - NEWS
January 18, 2010 [Port of Rotterdam] - This month, approximately 65,000 m3 of new tank capacity will be available at Caldic in the Rotterdam Europoort area. A considerable part of it will be used by Abengoa to store and handle ethanol.

Initially Abengoa will store ethanol that will be imported from overseas. Later this will be supplemented by ethanol which is going to be produced at the plant of Abengoa, adjacent to the Caldic facility.
Rotterdam is the most important hub in Europe for ethanol produced in Europe as well as from overseas, especially Brazil. In Rotterdam, Vopak is the most important independent storage terminal. Other providers expanded their capacity as well. A large part of the ethanol is transported to the hinterland, especially to Germany by train. Caldic as well as Vopak have expanded the train handling capabilities. The growing availability of the freight-only Betuwe Route railway line to Germany plays a stimulating role in this development.
