IOOC's 500,000-Barrel Storage Tank Comes Online - Tehran

March 30, 2013 [Fars News Agency] - Tehran (FNA), a 500 thousand barrel storage tank came online in Bahregan Oil Region in Southern Iran, Production Director of the Iran Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) Mohammad Bagher Soleimani announced.

“By launching the facility total oil storage capacity in Bahregan region has hit 4 million barrels,” Soleimani said.

He pointed to existence of a floating storage unit (FSU) in Bahregan region adding considering 2.3 million barrels of storage capacity by the facility, Bahregan region has been changed into a strategic region for oil storage.

Soleimani noted that construction of another oil storage tank was under way in the region expressing satisfaction with the progress of its construction operations.

Earlier, IOOC’s Managing Director Mahmoud Zirakchianzadeh said the company plans to raise oil storage capacity in Bahregan region to 8.1 million barrels early next Iranian calendar year in March 2013.

Located in Bushehr province between Gehaveh and Dailam ports, Bahregan Operational Region changed into an oil region after oil discovery in 1951. The region covers Bahregansar, Hendijan, Soroush and Noruz oil fields.
