Moeve Announces Its €1.2-B 2G Biofuels Project in Spain is more than 50% Complete
12.03.2025 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

December 03, 2025 [Hydrocarbon Processing]- Moeve has announced that its new 2G biofuels plant at La Rabida Energy Park in Palos de la Frontera, is now over 50% complete. Developed with Apical, the €1.2 billion project is part of Southern Europe’s largest second-generation renewable fuels complex and will create about 2,000 direct and indirect jobs, strengthening Huelva’s role as a major energy and technology hub.

The facility will add up to 500,000 tons per year of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel (HVO), doubling Moeve’s total capacity to one million tons annually. As one of Spain’s three largest industrial projects underway, it supports national reindustrialization and leadership in green fuels. Once operational, the complex is expected to avoid three million tons of CO₂ emissions each year—around 4% of Spain’s road-transport emissions—helping decarbonize air, sea, land transport, and industrial sectors.
