80 Mile Moves to 100% Ownership of Ferrandina Biofuels Plant
11.03.2025 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

November 03, 2025 [Biofuels International]- 80 Mile Plc announced three memoranda of understanding with major industry partners and a move to acquire full ownership of the Ferrandina biofuels plant – signalling an immediate step up in its European production footprint.

The MoUs — described by the company as strategic commercial and technical alliances — involve a Fortune 500 energy group and two regional energy partners, and are intended to secure feedstock sourcing, logistics and offtake for both biodiesel and renewable diesel products.
The company said taking 100% control of the Ferrandina site will allow it to implement retrofit programmes to increase conversion efficiency, add storage and blending capabilities, and accelerate the plant’s ability to produce EN-standard biodiesel for road transport and industrial users.
80 Mile stressed that the collaboration agreements are non-binding at this stage but provide a framework for co-investment and resource sharing that should reduce project risk and speed up commissioning timelines.
In its release, 80 Mile highlighted the strategic importance of owning operational capacity in southern Europe to supply EU markets that are tightening sustainability and mass-balance requirements for renewable fuels.
The firm said it will publish further technical and commercial details once negotiations complete and regulatory approvals are secured.
