Seacrest Hires Transpetro to Operate Brazil Oil Terminal

May 1, 2023 [bnamericas] – Brazil’s Transpetro will operate the Norte Capixaba onshore hub (pictured) for Seacrest Petróleo during a five-year period.

The information was provided by Seacrest executives in a Tuesday webcast for investors.

Located in São Mateus, in Espírito Santo state, the terminal was acquired earlier this month by Seacrest from national oil company Petrobras along with four onshore fields. Transpetro is the NOC’s logistics subsidiary.

Regarding the decision to hire Transpetro, Scott Aitken, president of Seacrest’s executive committee, said that the process to take over the terminal will require some time and that it is a complex task to operate it.

Norte Capixaba consists of five oil and condensate-receiving tanks with capacity to store approximately 16,160m3 each, and it also has export facilities. It receives oil from onshore fields in the northern region of Espírito Santo, including heavy oil.

Seacrest has 140Mboe (million of barrels of oil equivalent) of oil and gas reserves and ranks as the third largest onshore oil and gas producer in Brazil, also considering its Cricaré hub, which comprises 27 Espírito Santo concessions.

So far in April, its production has averaged approximately 7,700b/d in terms of oil and 8,100boed in total. Since closing the Norte Capixaba acquisition, Seacrest has been operating four workover rigs to triple output by 2025.
