08.17.2022 By Ella Keskin - NEWS

August 17, 2022 [ Storage Terminals Magazine ] – Kostas Skrekas, minister for Environment and Energy, has said that the new liquefied natural gas (LNG) floating storage unit (FSU) at the Revithoussa island terminal in Greece, will be ready to start receiving its first supplies by the end of August.

Mr Skrekas visited Revithoussa to inspect the fourth LNG storage tank, which will expand Revithoussa’s previous capacity of three units and 225,000 cubic metres to 375,000 cubic metres of LNG.

Mr Skrekas said: “The four storage tanks will ensure natural gas supplies are adequate should flows from abroad be interrupted.”

“A large percentage of natural gas is obviously used in producing electricity – therefore, we will be able to shore up Greece’s energy supply in the near future.”

He added that the new unit was installed “in record time”.
