March 26, 2012 [Noticias EFE] - Vopak’s tank storage terminal in the Port of Algeciras, Spain, will become operational during the first quarter of 2013, said Mr. Agustín Silva, Vopak Algeciras’ general manager.

This facility, located at the Strait of Gibraltar, will have a total storage capacity of 403,000 m3, and it will be the first independent provider of bulk liquid storage in the Spanish port.

The General Manager of this terminal claimed that “the company is currently running a feasibility study for a potential expansion of the facility”. Mr. Silva also added that “Algeciras is located at in a privileged region as the Strait of Gibraltar is a strategic point for gobal maritime traffic”.

The terminal will facilitate the supply of its stored fuels because it is a facility built on land, and land-based storage is safer and more manageable than floating storage. Moreover, Vopak Algeciras is a state-of-the-art terminal that will help to reduce both potential risks and exposure to environment.
