Vopak expands its Deer Park terminal

October 4, 2010 [Houston Chronicle] - Royal Vopak will finish in April building two docks at its Deer Park chemical terminal that would allow for as much as 1 million barrels of additional storage capacity, reports Houston Chronicle.

“We see more growth opportunity around the clean fuels and biofuels,” Lawrence Waldron, the Gulf Coast general manager for Vopak, told Bloomberg during an interview at the Tank Storage Canada Expo & Conference in Calgary. The new docks would allow an expansion of the 7-million-barrel terminal near Houston by as much as 14 percent.
Waldron declined to say if the company has decided to add the tanks.
Vopak leases all of its tanks to other companies. About a third of the Deer Park terminal’s business comes from traders, Waldron said.
