March 29, 2024 [Tank Storage]- Vitol Bunkers has completed the first delivery of B30 biofuel blend in Singapore, the first time that biofuel above concentration B25 has been delivered. A total of 1,100 MT of VLSFO B30 was delivered on 14 March 2024 to the vessel Grand Hero, a vehicle carrier chartered by Hyundai Glovis.
The delivery was carried out by Vitol Bunkers’ vessel the Marine Future, a specialised bunker barge that is uniquely capable of supplying biofuel blends including B24, B30 and up to B100.
Biofuels are set to play a key role in decarbonising the hard-to-abate shipping sector. Incorporating higher concentrations of biofuel blends is a key pathway to mitigating carbon emissions. In 2023 biofuel sales in Singapore reached around 520,000 tonnes, according to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), up from 140,000 tonnes in 2022.
‘We are pleased to be part of Singapore’s journey to decarbonise its shipping sector,’ says Mike Muller, head of Vitol Asia. ‘Vitol Bunkers is delighted to be able to offer its customers a broad range of biofuels, up to 100% bunker fuel.’
