06.05.2025 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

June 05, 2025 [World energy News]- According to industry sources and ship tracking data, the Cai Mep LNG terminal in Vietnam has received its first cargo of liquefied gas from Russia. This is the country’s very first shipment from this LNG producer.

According to LSEG and Kpler data, the cargo from Russia’s Sakhalin 2 Project was loaded onto the Blue Dragon LNG tanker on April 10.

The Blue Dragon 1 tanker docked at Cai Mep’s import terminal on 25 May.

According to a source in the industry, the cargo was received for testing purposes.

Cai Mep LNG, located in southern Ba Ria Vung Tau Province, has the potential to import three million metric tonnes of LNG per year.

Cai Mep LNG operates the plant, which is a joint venture of Singapore’s Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific LNG and Vietnamese oil trader Hai Linh Company.

Hai Linh did not respond to repeated requests for comment. AG&P LNG failed to respond immediately to a comment request.

AG&P LNG stated in August of last year that it aimed to deliver its terminal commissioning cargo between October and Novembre.

Thi Vai LNG is Vietnam’s very first LNG terminal. It received its initial cargo from Indonesia. Since then, it has also received LNG supplies originating from Qatar and Malaysia.
