September 27, 2011 [Ventspils nafta] - Ventspils nafta terminals (VNT) – a subsidiary of the holding company “Ventspils nafta” – is going to handle around 10 million tons of cargo this year, based on current plans, which would be a million more than last year, told VNT General Director Lars Pantzlaff in an interview to the business information portal “Baltic Business Service” of the agency „BNS”.

“If we compare the amount of cargos handled through our terminal in seven months last year and this year, this year the amount has increased by 25% from 5.5 million tons last year till 6.9 million tons. It is a considerable increase. By now we have handled 6.9 million tons. In summers handling has always been slower, but in winters more intensive. Therefore we are looking in the future with cautious optimism. If everything is fine, we forecast that we could handle in total about 10 million tons this year. For comparison, last year we handled about nine million tons of cargos. However it is difficult to forecast the development of the fuel market, because we cannot influence it,” said VNT General Director.

The shares of SIA Ventspils nafta terminčls are owned by 51% by one of the major holdings in the Baltic States – the public joint stock company Ventspils nafta. Whereas 49% of shares are owned by Eurotank Holding Sarl, a company of the international terminal operating company VTTI.

VNT provides transit services – receipt, storage and loading of oil and petroleum products via pipelines, rail tank cars and tankers. VNT is the largest company in the region with the total tank storage capacity of 1.2 million cubic meters.
