Transpetro Goes Forward with License Application to Extend Tebar Terminal
03.29.2013 - NEWS

March 29, 2013 [Petrobras Transporte S.A.] - The initial project changed several times due to discussions with environmental agents and local citizens, but finally Transpetro presented the Environmental Impact Study and the Report on Environmental Impact to Cetesb.

Transpetro presented the Environmental Impact Study and the Report on Environmental Impact to Cetesb (Environmental Authority in São Paulo) in order to reclaim the pre-license for building and operating the expansion of the oil pier in Terminal Almirante Barroso (Tebar), located in São Sebastião, in the north cost of São Paulo. According to the company, the term of 45 days to ask for a public audience relating to the license for the new pier is open.

The inhabitants worry about the environmental, economic and social effects the works may have in the region, one of the best spots for sailing in the world. According to Transpetro, expanding the terminal, where 100% of refined petroleum from São Paulo and a great part of Brazilian petroleum passes by, will allow to supply Sao Paulo refineries, doing maintenance on the ships and reducing waiting time for the carriers.
