TransCanada Plans to Add Storage Capacity at Hardisty Terminal
10.09.2014 - NEWS

October 9, 2014 [OPIS] - TransCanada said on Wednesday that it has launched an open season to obtain binding commitments from interested parties for crude oil storage at its Hardisty terminal in Alberta.

The tanks will provide new infrastructure for Western Canadian producers with up to 1.1 million barrels of available storage capacity.

Pending the results of the open season, TransCanada expects the tanks could be operational in the fourth quarter of 2014 and is proceeding with the necessary regulatory applications to commence operations.

OPIS notes that TransCanada has been shipping Canadian crude from its Hardisty terminal to Steele City, Neb., via the original Keystone pipeline, and the terminal in Western Canada is also expected to deliver crude to the east coast of Canada via the Energy East Pipeline project in the near future.
