August 10, 2012 [News Ok] - Total Energy expects to employ more than 300 people in Stillwater after buying a plant to house its oil storage tank engineering and construction business.

Total Energy will turn the plant into a state-of-the-art facility to build massive storage tanks capable of storing up to 300,000 gallons of oil. The plant will employ more than 200 people when it reaches full production.

The Stillwater location also will be home to Total Energy’s new engineering and construction division when it begins operations in late 2013. It is expected to employ another 100 people by 2015.

“We are well positioned to capitalize on the current energy and petrochemical boom and will expand our operations considerably in Stillwater, providing turnkey engineering and construction services to our customers,” Total Energy CEO Robert Armentano said.

Total Energy’s new Oklahoma holdings includes 334,000 square feet of manufacturing space, 32 acres of outdoor storage and an active rail spur to provide direct access to steel mills and other material suppliers.

Stillwater Chamber of Commerce President Lisa Navrkal said the company will be a boon to the city.

“The company currently employs over 100 people and has an aggressive growth strategy over the next decade,” she said. “Total Energy plans to begin production in early 2013 after completing building, site and equipment upgrades and be fully staffed at 200 employees by the end of 2014.”
