Throughput of Port Ventspils (Latvia) Down 15.6% to 21.1 M t in 11M’15

December 10, 2015 [PortNews IAA] - In January-November 2014, the port of Ventspils handled 21.1 mln t of cargo (-15.6%, year-on-year), the port authority says including 1,8 mln t of cargo handled in November 2015.


Compared to the previous year, the following terminals at the Freeport of Ventspils increased their throughput in January-November 2015: Ventall Termināls (+91%), Ventbunkers (+8%), Ventspils tirdzniecības osta (+6%), Noord Natie Ventspils Terminals (+5%), Ventspils Grain Terminal (3-fold increase to 403,000 t of grain). 

The following terminals showed the decrease:  Ventspils Nafta (-11% to 9 mln t), Baltic Coal Terminal (-44% to 1.7 mln t), Kālija parks (-90% to 140,000t).

Ventspils port is located near Venta river. There are terminals for loading and unloading of crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. In 2014, the port handled 26.02 mln t of cargo (-9%, year-on-year).
