Throughput of Port Ventspils (Latvia) Down 14.7% to 13.4 M T in HI’2015

July 23, 2015 [PortNews IAA] - In January-June 2014, the port of Ventspils handled 13.4 mln t of cargo (-14.7%, year-on-year), the port authority says including 1,6 mln t of cargo handled in June 2015.


Compared to the previous year, four out of ten terminals at the Freeport of Ventspils increased their throughput in January-June 2015: Ventall Termināls (+102%), Noord Natie Ventspils Terminals (+15%), Ventspils tirdzniecības osta (+ 5%), Ventspils Grain Terminal (110,000 t from the beginning of operation). 

The following terminals showed the decrease:  Ventplaс (-11%), Ventamonjaks (-1%), Baltic Coal Terminal (-42% to 1.4 mln t), Ventspils Nafta termināls (-9%), Ventbunkers (-24%).

Ventspils port is located near Venta river. There are terminals for loading and unloading of crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. In 2014, the port handled 26.02 mln t of cargo (-9%, year-on-year).
