The CLH Group Will Invest Around €100 Million During 2012

February 1, 2012 [The CLH Group] - The CLH Group is to invest around 100 million euros throughout 2012, which will be spent on expanding and improving the company's infrastructures.


58 million euros, which is most of the investments in 2012, will be devoted to expanding and improving the CLH storage facilities. The most important part, 27 million euros, will be used in the expansion of storage capacity and operational improvements at several facilities, and a further 16 million euros will go to investments in environmental protection and safety.

The investments in this heading also include 15 million euros that are earmarked for completing construction of the new facilities in Castellanos de Moriscos (Salamanca) and Almodóvar del Campo (Ciudad Real) that are currently under way.

Regarding expansion of the transport network, CLH will be investing over 24 million euros on extending its pipeline network. Of this amount, around 12 million euros will be spent on building the pipeline connection between the storage facility in Torrejón de Ardoz and Madrid-Barajas airport.

On the other hand, CLH will devote 16 million euros to expanding and improving the CLH Aviación facilities, in order to improve its ability to complete and maintain the leadership of the CLH Group in this activity.

Finalization of the 2007-2011 Strategic Plan

Last year, the CLH Group completed development of its 2007-2011 Strategic Plan with an investment of around 700 million euros, which have made it possible for 1.5 million cubic metres of new storage capacity to be built and for 525 kilometres of new pipeline to be laid.

Outstanding among the projects that became a reality in the 2007-2011 Plan is the building of new infrastructures, such as the new storage facilities in Arahal (Seville), Mahon (Minorca) and Burgos, besides the construction work for the new storage facility in Castellanos de Moriscos (Salamanca) which is currently in progress.

During this period, CLH also expanded the storage capacity of several facilities, the most important of them being Albuixech (Valencia), Huelva, León, Gijón, Son Banya (Palma, Majorca), Navarre, Barcelona, Castellón, Algeciras, Cartagena and Malaga, and adapted their infrastructures in order to make it possible for biofuels to be transported and stored.

During the 2007-2011 period the company also opened a new Central Laboratory for product analysis and metrology in San Fernando de Henares (Madrid), where the most stringent fuel analyses can be carried out thanks to its advanced technology.

In the environmental field, the company completed work on dismantling and cleaning up the land occupied by the de-commissioned facilities in Valencia, Muskiz (Biscay) and Santurce (Biscay), and started work on environmental recovery of the land in Mahon and Burgos.

Among the projects for building new pipelines that were carried out during the 2007-2011 period, the most important were duplication of the Zaragoza-Torrejón de Ardoz pipeline, which is over 290 kilometres long, and the southern section of the Rota-Zaragoza pipeline between Arahal (Seville) and Adamuz (Cordoba), which is 150 kilometres long.

CLH Aviación, for its part, improved and expanded several airport facilities, the most important work carried out being the expansion of the aviation fuel distribution network at Barcelona airport with the building of two new fuel supply lines between the CLH Aviación airport facility and the hydrant network at the new Terminal 1 in El Prat, besides the expansion and improvement of the storage facilities at Vigo, San Javier, Malaga, Pamplona and La Rioja airports.
