April 14, 2014 [CLH S.A.] - As the Chairman of the company, José Luis López de Silanes, explained to the Regional President, Iñigo Urkullo, during their meeting today in Vitoria, the CLH Group is to invest 17 million euros in building the first phase of a new storage facility in the Port of Bilbao.
The project will be implemented in two phases. During the first phase, 8 new tanks with a total capacity of 123,200 cubic metres will be built, and then, in a second phase, 3 additional tanks with a capacity of 114,000 cubic metres will be installed. The total capacity of the facility will be more than 237,000 cubic metres.
A multi-product pipeline with a length of 1 km will also be built and this will run through port land to connect the new facility with the existing pumping station. This connection will allow it to receive and dispatch oil products by tanker, from the Santurce storage facility or other logistics companies.
The construction work began in 2013 with pre-loading of the terrain and right now the civil works for building this new infrastructure are being executed. The forecast date for commissioning the facility is the first half of 2015.
Main investments made in the Community
During the 2007-2013 period the CLH Group has carried out investments amounting to almost 86 million euros in the Basque Country, and these have made it possible for the company to make its infrastructures ready to meet the fuel supply needs in the Community during the next decade.
One of the most important projects to be carried out was the construction of a new storage facility in Santurce, which involved an investment of over 67 million euros. The facility stands on a land plot measuring 125,000 square metres, and has 17 storage tanks with a total capacity of 209,000 cubic metres.
On the other hand, the company also invested 1.5 million euros in adapting its infrastructures for receiving, storing and dispatching biofuels.
CLH presence in the Basque Country
CLH has two storage facilities in the Basque Country that are located in the towns of Santurce and Rivabellosa, and one CLH Aviación facility at Bilbao airport.
The company also has 152 kilometres of pipeline that connect the CLH storage facilities with the refinery operating in Muskiz, with the Port of Bilbao and with the rest of the company’s pipeline network.
