September 17, 2024 [Reuters]- Thailand’s largest energy firm, state-controlled PTT PCL, has signed a five-year deal to buy liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Oman.

The deal will be for 300,000 metric tons of LNG per year, and will begin in 2025, PTT said in comments to Reuters on Monday.

PTT also said it was in talks with Oman LNG for a further nine-year supply contract for 800,000 tons per year beginning in 2026. The deal is still under negotiation, it added.

Thailand is Southeast Asia’s largest importer of LNG and imported a record volume of 11.7 million tons last year, according to data from Kpler.
