SwRI president elected to Valero LP board of directors

Valero LP elected Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) President and CEO J. Dan Bates to the company’s board of directors.

He is now the eighth member on the board of directors and he will sit on the Audit, Conflicts and Compensation Committees.

Brought to you by Cingular “Dan Bates is a great addition to our board,” Valero LP CEO Curt Anastasio says. “Not only does he have great leadership skills, his broad experience and great business acumen will be a real asset to Valero LP.”

He is also chairman pro-tem of the board of directors of the San Antonio branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

Bates first joined Southwest Research Institute as a systems analyst in 1969. He became the institute’s executive vice president and board secretary in 1991 and president in 1997.

Southwest Research Institute is one of the largest not-for-profit applied research institutes in the United Sates and one of the largest fuel and lubricant test sites in the world.

Valero LP (NYSE: VLI) is a master limited partnership in San Antonio that owns crude oil and refined-product pipelines, terminals and crude oil storage facilities.
