Summit Next Gen SAF Facility Qualifies for Texas JETI Incentives

February 3, 2025 [SAF Investor]- Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that the Summit Next Gen – which is currently developing world’s largest ethanol-to-sustainable-aviation-fuel (SAF) – plant has qualified for the state’s Jobs, Energy, Technology and Innovation (JETI) programme.

 

The JETI programme is tool to incentivise and attract investment in the state by offering tax exemptions 10-year limitation on the taxable value of its property for school district maintenance & operations (M&O) taxes.

Summit Next Gen announced acquisition of site for its production facility at the Houston Shipp Channel. The site’s location, which falls under the state’s Qualified Opportunity Zone, will also qualifies for additional tax incentives reducing the company’s tax burden by another 25%.

“Texas is where the future of America is building,” said Governor Abbott. “With a $1.6bn investment and the largest ethanol-to-jet fuel production facility to date in all of North America, Summit Next Gen is making a Texas-sized investment in the future of Harris County and in the future of our great state.”

“Summit Next Gen is thrilled to advance its development of the world’s largest ethanol-to-jet sustainable aviation fuel production facility,” said Summit Next Gen CEO Robert Halpin.

“We believe this investment fits squarely within the strategic framework of unleashing American energy through technological innovation as our facility will play a critical role in revolutionizing the global aviation industry by providing a scalable supply of low-carbon jet fuel.”
