October 26, 2023 [CSN]- Stolthaven Terminals’ facility in Santos, Brazil was awarded its highest-ever score in Covestro’s 2023 supplier audit.

Covestro, a global provider of high-tech polymer materials, conducts a biannual audit of its suppliers, assessing them in four categories: safety, health, environment and quality.

Suppliers that score above 80 qualify to provide services to Covestro. Stolthaven Santos has been a supplier since 2002 and, in this year’s audit, received a top score of 98 out of 100. In particular, the terminal scored highly for customer service and its ability to meet operational demands, and its SHEQ management system, which focuses on risk management and process safety to ensure business continuity and provide all employees with a safe working environment. The processes in place for maintaining assets and ongoing site upgrades were also highly commended.

One area of improvement since last year’s audit was Stolthaven Santos’ sustainability certificates, including a silver EcoVadis rating, and being a signatory to the Abiquim Responsible Care® Program, which is an ethical framework for safe chemicals management and performance excellence.

Marcelo Schmitt, General Manager of Stolthaven Santos, said: “These assessments are important for many reasons. The outstanding result we achieved was a real team effort. It reinforces Covestro’s satisfaction with our services and reassures them we are not only meeting but exceeding their requirements. It also demonstrates our commitment to Stolthaven Terminals’ ambition to be the most respected global storage provider and helps us to continually improve our processes.”

Ana Lucia Sancho, Covestro’s Head of Credit Management, LATAM & Logistics Procurement, added: “We are thankful to the Stolthaven Terminals and Covestro teams that, together, generated the necessary commitment to reach this level of qualification.”
