February 16, 2026 [Reuters]- Spanish energy major Repsol has appointed Juan Romero as its global head of trading, a spokesperson told Reuters on Friday.
Juan Romero will replace Jose Antonio Correa, who has retired, the company told Reuters. The news has not been previously reported.
Repsol is aiming to expand its trading division as part of its broader strategy of transitioning from a traditional oil and gas company to a multi-energy player, a shift that also comes as it weighs a reverse merger for its upstream portfolio.
Romero has worked at Repsol for 16 years, according to his LinkedIn profile, trading crude oil and fuels in Madrid and Houston.
Several other oil trading bosses will take on new roles as a result of the change, Repsol said.
Fernando Gomis will succeed Romero as global head of crude and derivatives trading, while Inaki Mateo will take on Gomis’ current role of global head of heavy products and bunkers. Carolina Franco will become global head of middle distillates, the role Mateo is vacating.
