Sonangol to Increase Fuel Storage Capacity in Cabinda

December 20, 2017 [Oil Review Africa] - The Angolan National Oil Company (Sonangol) has announced to increase its stocking capacity in Cabinda from 15,300 cu/m of gas and diesel to 40,000 cu/m by 2018.


João Salvador, member of the executive committee of Sonangol Logistics, gave the assurance during the visit that to Cabinda.

Commenting about the decision to increase fuel storage capacity, Mauro Graça, CEO of Sonagas, acknowledged that the supply of cooking gas in Cabinda has posed concern because of the degradation of distribution facilities aggravated by several operational safety problems.

Speaking to the Angola press agency, he further added that after the completion of the restoration work by Q1 2018, the company is expected to have the initial filling capacity of 3,000 bottles of cooking gas each day.

Sonangol said that there was some delays in the discharge of fuels in national ports last week, due to minor constraints in payments to external suppliers. However, the administration of Sonangol EP has mitigated the situation and fuel discharging process continued in the ports of Luanda, Cabinda and Lobito.

Sonangol oversees petroleum and natural gas production in Angola. The group consists of Sonangol and its many subsidiaries along with other corporate, commercial and individual clients.
